Transitioning towards Post Quantum Cryptography

21 Sep 2022, Putrajaya – The inaugural Konvensyen Pegawai Keselamatan ICT Malaysia 2022 was held on 20-22 September 2022 at Dewan Damar Sari, Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan, Putrajaya. The convention organized by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), National Security Council (MKN) gathered around 300 participants from various government agencies as well as from the private sector. The Director of INSPEM, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rezal Kamel Ariffin was invited as speaker. He delivered the topic Transitioning towards Post Quantum Cryptography. The talk touched on the importance of correct implementation of cryptography in order to ensure the security of confidential data. The talk emphasised the importance to be quantum secure in the near future. The director went into detail the White House announcement by US President Joseph Biden, which instructed all US government agencies to be quantum secure by May 2023. The convention also enabled participants to be informed of current research at INSPEM on the topic of post-quantum cryptography. A number of agencies had expressed interest and reached out for future engagement on the matter.
