Malaysian Cryptology and Information Security Lecture Series to be held online

 

SERDANG, July 14 – The Laboratory of Cryptography, Analysis and Structure, Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has organised the 5th Malaysian Cryptology and Information Security Series 2021 (MCISLS 2021) online using the Zoom application.

The programme is a series of lectures held every two years, and this is its fifth year.

MCISLS 2021 focuses on current developments in blockchain, crypto analysis of public-key cryptography, and the use of graphic processing units and embedded devices in cryptographic primitives. It also focuses on other issues in the field of cryptography and information security.

This lecture series was attended by 35 participants and featured guest speakers from various institutions, including Prof. Dr. Miss Laiha Mat Kiah from Universiti Malaya (UM); Dr. Arif Mandangan from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS); Dr. Lee Wai Kong from Gachon University, South Korea; Dr. Syed Farid Syed Adnan from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Dr. Amir Hamzah Abd Ghafar from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The programme was sponsored by the Malaysian Society for Cryptology Research (MSCR) which covered the participation fees for participants.

A total of 10 students benefited from the sponsorship. This lecture series had successfully highlighted the field of Cryptology by discussing the latest studies produced by the presenters.

It also encouraged further research and interaction between students and renowned researchers in the field. – UPM
